People call this three different names and it causes genuine confusion, so to be clear: fluff and fold, wash dry fold, and drop-off laundry service are all the same service at Plaza Laundromat. The sign on our building says fluff and fold. Some people search for wash dry fold. Some just say drop-off. You will get the same thing whichever you ask for, and it costs $1.99 per pound.

How it works

1. Bring your laundry in during attended hours, 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM, any day of the week. Any bag or basket is fine 2. The attendant weighs it in and writes up your ticket. The weight is what sets the price, at $1.99 a pound 3. We sort, wash, dry, and fold it. Separated properly by color and fabric, washed on appropriate settings, dried, and folded 4. You collect it. Folded, bagged, and ready to go straight into drawers

What $1.99 a pound actually means

Pricing by weight throws people, so here is the plain version. Laundry is priced on what it weighs dry, when you hand it over. A standard kitchen trash bag stuffed with clothes tends to land somewhere around fifteen to twenty pounds. A week of laundry for a couple is usually less than people expect. A week for a family of five is a lot more.

The attendant weighs it in front of you and you will know the price before we start. Nobody is guessing and there is no surprise at pickup.

Who uses it

People whose weekends are worth more than the hourly rate. If doing laundry costs you four hours across a weekend, and dropping it off costs a fraction of what you earn in four hours, the arithmetic makes itself.

Anyone in the middle of something. New baby. Recovering from surgery. Moving house. Working doubles. Laundry is the first thing to fall over when life gets full, and it is the easiest thing to hand off.

Older residents across east Mesa. Hauling baskets, bending into machines, and lifting wet loads is genuinely hard on a body. Plenty of people from the retirement communities around Sunland Springs, Apache Wells, and Dreamland Villa drop off rather than deal with it.

Households where the machine died. A broken washer is a four figure problem and a two week wait for a part. Drop-off is a bridge.

Getting your laundry ready

There is not much to it, but a few minutes at home makes the result better.

Check every pocket. Pens, lip balm, crayons, and tissues are the four things that ruin a load. A pen through a hot dryer will mark everything in the drum, and there is no undoing it.

Pull anything out that should not be washed. Dry clean only labels, anything with a delicate embellishment, anything you are precious about. Tell the attendant if something needs special handling rather than hoping it survives.

Say so if you have a preference. Cold wash only, no fabric softener, sensitive skin detergent, a particular way you want things folded. Any of that is fine, just say it at drop-off. We cannot follow an instruction we never got.

Bags or baskets both work. You do not need to sort it beforehand. We separate by color and fabric as part of the service.

What the first time actually looks like

People are often slightly unsure walking in with a bag of laundry for the first time, so here is the plain version.

You come in during the morning window and find the attendant. They put your bag on the scale and note the weight. They write a ticket with your name and phone number on it, and tell you the price and when it will be ready. You leave.

It goes into the machines, gets dried, gets folded, and gets bagged with your ticket on it. You come back, they hand it to you, you pay. That is the whole transaction.

There is nothing to book, no account to open, and no minimum you have to hit. Turn up with laundry.

What we do not do

We do not dry clean. If it says dry clean only, we are not the right stop and we will tell you rather than take the ticket.

We do not press or starch shirts. It is a wash, dry, and fold service. If you need pressed work shirts, that is a dry cleaner.

We ask that you check pockets. Pens, lipsticks, and crayons go through a wash and dryer badly and they take other people's clothes with them.

Drop-off runs on attended hours, and that is the one thing to plan around

Drop-off is available 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM only, because that is when the attendant is on the floor. The lobby stays open until 9:00 PM, but after 1:30 PM it is self-service only and there is nobody to weigh laundry in.

So if drop-off is what you want, come in the morning. Getting this wrong is the single most common frustration people have with laundromat drop-off services anywhere, and it is entirely avoidable if you know the window.

If mornings genuinely do not work for you, come use the self-service machines in the evening instead.

Businesses should not use per-pound pricing

If you are dropping off towels for a salon or linens for a rental every week, per-pound is the wrong product. Commercial accounts are priced to your volume and work out substantially better, and we can collect and return rather than making you drive.
